Volunteers with Seeds for Seniors do many things, based on your location, availability, interests and strengths! Here are a few of the things you can do as a volunteer with our team:

Volunteer Gardener

Volunteer gardeners come in and plant, weed, water and harvest food and flowers all while building relationships with the residents at various sites. Once your orientation visit has been completed, you are able to schedule drop-in sessions with 24-48hr notice at your own convenience. No experience required, we’ll teach you what you need to know (and the residents will often give tips and tricks, too!).

Home Gardener

If you’re a home gardener and find you have food or plant starts to share, please reach out! We gratefully accept in-kind donations like this and can often schedule a pickup from a location of your choice, or receive a donation on site by appointment.

Infrastructure Volunteer

Infrastructure volunteers help us do things like build garden boxes, dig in new garden beds, hook up rain barrels and plant new fruit trees and bushes when budgets and donations allow. If you’re handy and love building, fixing and more physical labor, this could be for you!

Our volunteers also wear whatever hat suits their current schedule- so if you want to do a little bit of everything, that’s absolutely an option!
